How do I get a job as a reporter for SF Universe? I think I can write something better than "... myself and a few other reporters got to have a little five-on-one before the big panel with Kripke and the boys." At least mine would be grammatically correct.
And apparently the site is part of the b5 media network, which is a collection of semi-professional blogs on various topics. Ok, Flist, I think we need to pool our considerable resources and start our own (non-LiveJournal) blog for consideration as a legitimate Supernatural (or whatever) site. We could pass ourselves off as journalists and maybe get press passes to various conventions, which would have definite advantages.
I know we have the talent.
hanncoll has journalism experience,
nuj is a professional writer,
jade_kadir is on her way to becoming a professional writer,
the_other_sandy writes some of the best episode reviews out there,
janglyjewels has the inside track on conventions, not to mention Jared,
just_ruth has a unique take on Supernatural and life in general,
zanne68 is in the process of writing a Supernatural retrospective, and I just plain ol' need a new job.
So, do I have any takers?

That's actually what I'd love to do with my blogspot journal (or another one). I'm using the name "Fangirl Says" (the hook being that it's from a female fan's perspective, which is more unusual than the regular fanboy perspective) and had planned on covering all the scifi/fantasy/horror/etc. that I can manage. Of course, the emphasis/title aren't written in stone.
What about if a bunch of us were to work on a fangirl blog? That's what most of the most well-known blogs do (the TV Addict, Pink Raygun, BuddyTV). It's much better to have consistent content on a daily basis, and I can't do that on my own. And we'd already be as legitimate as any of the other TV/movie sites. I'm not saying the big interviews would fall in our laps, but it'd be fun covering genre entertainment from a fangirl perspective, I think.
What do you think?
I was totally thinking of a collaborative effort. You're right, you need to post at least every day to make it viable. But I think that even with the 2 of us (if no one else is interested) we could manage.
I've got oodles of web server space and plenty of room for more domain names. So if you have any great catchy ideas for names, let me know. (You're very clever with these things. I, on the other hand, am not.)
*heee*
O_O I am? Are you referring to the Episode Reviews of Nostalgia? "Retrospective" makes them sound so much more impressive, if you are. ;)
This sounds like a great idea. We all enjoy Supernatural, we all enjoy writing(and we all know how to write). Sounds like fun. I'd be happy to contribute. Should all those interested get online for a planning chat or something? Maybe through LJ Talk or IM?

You know, I hadn't totally thought out the details. (To be honest, I didn't think I'd get much interest.) I think a chat session would be great, but perhaps in a month or so. I like Jade mentions below about first setting up a community. That way we can have a little time to brain-storm individually, throw ideas out to each other, and then perhaps "meet" to discuss in chat. How's that sound? Definitely set something prior to the Supernatural season premiere.
Oooh, I'm so excited!
Who's going to set up the brainstorming community?
Not to worry, you are definitely qualified!
I'm interested enough to want to hear more about it, but I'd have to hear more about it before I commit to anything.
As I mentioned in replies above, I haven't really thought the details through. (I wasn't even sure anyone would be interested, and I'm THRILLED at the responses so far!) The great thing is that nothing is set in stone, and there's lots of great ideas to share. And I'm sure others will have ideas that I haven't even thought of.
With all that said, I certainly won't pressure you. Much. ;D
Well, maybe not SO lame, since I was on a business trip and then playing catch-up.
I got the invite and just accepted and will see what's going on tomorrow. Not sure I can contribute much besides, like, proofreading (not something really needed by this crowd), but I love the idea!
